Kelty
Like many companies, Kelty was born from frustration. Asher “Dick” Kelty didn’t like the hiking backpacks on the market and decided to create his own. The Mockingbird Pack was the first of many firsts for Dick, who started the business back in 1952 with help from his wife in their California home. He was known as the father of the external frame and the “Henry Ford of backpacking,” always pushing the boundaries of design and ergonomics.
Kelty still produces innovative hiking packs, but the company has expanded its product line to include sleeping bags, tents, folding furniture and other gear to make spontaneous adventures possible. It’s not always about a summit bid; it could be a weekend festival, a day at the beach or a few hours spent picnicking in the park. Kelty is all about escaping the mundane and finding the fun in every day. We’re in.
